Ten Thumbs Typing Tutor English
TOUCH-TYPING is a more comfortable way to type; it will save you time and can make you more productive. Ten Thumbs makes progress quick and rewarding for people learning to touch-type at any stage.
Will it work for me?
Whether you already know your finger positions and are reasonably proficient, or you’re a complete beginner and you need to be taught the very basics first, this program will teach you to touch-type at the level you want to reach. Particularly good for people who want instant feedback on how many mistakes they’re making and how fast they’re typing!
You can set the keyboard layout to Mac, PC or an international keyboard.
What will I learn?
Everything you need to know is covered: from the basics of how to sit at a computer and reach the keys correctly, to developing your touch-typing skills as far as you want to take them.
How does it work?
Start with the right posture. Your seat position, eye level and other factors are key to your health and typing efficiency.
Take the initial test to determine your average typing speed and percentage of error. The program tailors itself to your current level, and then sets you a goal just above your current proficiency, which you can aim for.
You can also choose to have the program analyse which keys you’re not so good at so that you can practice them, or you can choose the specific keys you want to work on.
Practise with typing games. You’ll score points for accuracy and speed.
Type to music. If you have iTunes, you can choose to type with your own music running in the background, or you can get the Typing Tutor to look up the lyrics for songs for you to type.
Print the proof. You can print out a certificate showing your accuracy and average typing speed.
