CHILDREN love songs, rhymes and stories and they also love pressing buttons and seeing things happen! We’ve combined the two so that your child will have the best possible time learning new words of English – and basic computer skills.

Will it work for my child?

StoryWorld is ideal for English-speaking children aged from three to eight years old, or up to 11 years old if they are learning English as a second language.

What will my child learn?

These discs will help your child learn English from popular rhymes and stories like Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks and The Three Bears and Incy Wincy Spider.

The interactive games also teach basic counting, colours, parts of the body and how to tell the time.

StoryWorld is a great introduction to computer skills for children and the fun games will help them learn how to navigate a computer screen and use a mouse.

How does it work?

The StoryWorld discs are designed to entertain so that children want to learn and keep on playing them.

Each disc features a mixture of four stories, songs or rhymes. By clicking the computer mouse your child can hear each one being narrated, along with accompanying illustrations. It’s particularly empowering for very young children, who aren’t dependent on an adult reading the story to them. There’s even a recording section so that they can record themselves narrating the story or improvising their own version!

Each story is also accompanied by four different games, which encourage your child to interact. By positioning and clicking the computer mouse they can:

• change the colour of a teddy bear.
• find someone/something who’s hiding in a game of hide and seek.
• identify the sound of an animal that’s fallen down a well and then see it rescued!
• put a broken Humpty Dumpty back together again!

To help motivate youngsters in the quizzes, StoryWorld awards gold stars for correct answers and high scores earn certificates, which you can print out and hang on your child’s bedroom wall.

There’s plenty here to keep your child interested and occupied for hours. You can even pop the StoryWorld discs into an ordinary (audio) CD player and listen to stories, songs and rhymes on the move, without the interactive features. An all round great product!

Disc 1 includes Goldilocks, Three Billy Goats Gruff, Incy Wincy Spider and Humpty Dumpty. Disc 2 includes Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Hickory Dickory Dock and Jack and Jill.
