1) Check the volume control on your computer: go to the ‘Volume Control’ panel by double-clicking the Volume icon at the bottom-right hand corner of the taskbar. Select ‘Options’ and choose ‘Properties’.
2) Select ‘Playback’ and make sure the following boxes are checked:

• Volume Control
• Wave
• SW Synth
• CD Player
• Line In
• Master Volume
• PC Speaker

3) Select ‘Recording’ and make sure the following boxes are checked:

• Line In
• Microphone

4) Click ‘OK’.
5) Adjust the volume sliders that you see so that they are close to the maximum setting.
6) (Optional) You can also select Options -> Advanced Controls, select the Microphone Advanced Button and look for any of the following:

• Microphone Gain Control
• Microphone Extra Gain
• Input AGC

If these boxes are available, tick them.

7) Retry recording yourself. If it doesn’t work, there may be something wrong with your microphone.
